will fly past the ice peaks of Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Mt. Everest to Lhasa,
the spiritual center of Tibet visited by pilgrims from all parts of the country.
Mingling with them you wander around the Jokhang, Tibet's holiest temple. You
will visit the mighty Potala Palace. Perched high above the old city it is the
landmark of Lhasa. You will visit other holy sites around Lhasa. A visit of Reting
Monastery, nestled on a hill above the Kyicho river and surrounded by a juniper
forest.Then it is on to the North. Close to the Nyenchentangla chain and across
the Lhachen La (4150m) we drive to the holy lake Namtso on the shores of which
you will camp. Peace and quietness lies in the air. Two days you will stay here
at the highest salt lake of Tibet (over 4600m) and hike along its Southern shore
through grassland of the nomads to the cave monastery of Tashi Doje. - After visiting
the Red Hat monastery Yangpachen your yaks will be loaded and your 4-day trek
starts. The trail leads to the beautifully located nun monastery Dorjeling and
across the Lhasar L on to Tsurphu monastery, the head monastery of the Kargyupas
north of Lhasa. A unique landscape awaits you on your way back from Lhasa to Katmandu.
Traveling along the high Tibetan plateau and crossing the Himalayan chain you
follow the Arniko Highway south. The road leads across 5000m passes and offers
breath-taking views of Cho Oyu, Gaurisankar and the gargantuan ice peak of Shishapangma
and Mt. Everest. En route you visit Khumbum chorten in Gyantse, the monastery
complex of Tashilunpo in Shigatse, the Sakya monastery, which was the school of
the trance runners in olden times. And not to forget, Samding monastery on the
shores of Lake Yamdrok, the only monastery with a female incarnation as its head
lama. Tibet Comprehensive (Naggu Tibet)
This trip combines the big centers of Tibetan culture: the east Tibetan province
Amdo and Central Tibet with Lhasa. You will fly to Lanzhou, the capital of the
Chinese province of Gansu, via Beijing. Start your trip to the magnificent Monasteries
of Labrang and Kumbum. Then it's by train past Koko Nor Lake to Golmud. After
traversing the source of the Yangtse river a spectacular landscape awaits you:
white gigantic peaks are mirrored in small lakes and on the vast plains tents
of the nomads with their yak herds can be seen. A side trip to the holy Lake Namtso,
the highest salt lake in Tibet at an altitude of 4600m follows. From far away
the golden roofs of the Potala are visible. Plenty of time is available to discover
the once forbidden city of the Tibetan god kings. Later visit the oldest monastery
Samye, located in the midst of sand dunes not far from the Tsangpo River. An exhilarating
drive brings you to Lake Yamdrok, Palkor Monastery in Gyantse, Shalu and Tashilunpo
in Shigatse. Savor stupendous views on your ride across the Tibetan plateau to
Katmandu in Nepal. Two high passes of over 5000m have to be crossed.} Kailash
Kashgar After a short visit of Katmandu you will fly past the ice peaks

our journey along the southern route to western Tibet by jeep. Incredible views
of the Himalayas and the Trans-Himalayas make up for the long, up to 12-hour drives
on rough roads. En route we visit Tashilunpo in Shigatse and the Kumbum chorten,
rich in murals and statues, in Gyantse. Our destination is the 'Center of the
World', as the Tibetans refer to Kailash. 6714m above see level towers the scenic
and white snow pyramid. Prayer flags on the Dolma La (5600m) greet you on your
circumambulation of Kailash, which takes three days. Traditionally, Tibetans then
pay a visit to Lake Manasarowar and conclude their pilgrimage with a visit of
Tirthapuri. Almost bizarre is the canyon-like landscape around the Sutlej River.
Embedded lie the ruins of Tsaparang, the capital of the former kingdom Guge. We
explore this 900 years old religious site and head on north via Tholing and Ali
(Chin. Shinquanhe). The grandiose mountain scenery of Kunlun and the oasis en
route to Kashgar in southwestern Xinjiang will remain unforgettable. Experience
the charme of the bazaar before you carry on to Urumqui and Beijing and return
to Germany. Mt. Kailash is regarded by Hindus as well as
Buddhists as the most sacred mountain in the world. You will meet a lot of pilgrims
on the trekking route. These pilgrims, you will find, will have been circumambulating
the holy mountain for an unbelievably long period of time. They are strong in
their beliefs and friendly when encountering tourist. Day

This Tour/Trek Lhamo Lhatso Lake
Perched high above the old city it is the landmark of Lhasa, the Potala Palace.
The majestic building - temple, palace and fortress - seems to be one with the
rock on which it stands. Broad stairs lead up to the residence of the Tibetan
god kings. It is a trove of immeasurable wealth. The heart of the old city is
the Jokhang. Buddhist prayer flags flutter in the wind and juniper fires appease
the gods. Mingling with the Tibetan pilgrims you will wander around the Jokhang,
Some even prostrate the whole length of the way around the temple. We visit Tsurphu
Monastery, head monastery of the Kagyupa sect, as well as Drepung, Sera and Ganden,
important monasteries of the Gelugpa and once flourishing centers of Buddhist
spirituality. Then we embark on our 9-day trek. In Rutok, east of Lhasa, our crew
is anticipating us. For 6 days we trek eastward passing settlements and the black
yak hair tents of the nomads. Pastures dotted with flowers lead us across passes
to the oracle lake. Amongst the holy lakes of Tibet Lhamo Latso takes a special
place. It is a pilgrimage destination for the god kings. At least once in their
life every Dalai Lama and high authorities comes here to meditate and experience
visions. It as here, that they looked for signs of the coming incarnation of a
Dalai Lama. A place of utter peacefulness and serenity. On our way back we pass
through the village of Gyatso Chu, home of the best walnuts in Tibet, and cross
a pass leading to Tsetang. We visit the Yarlung valley, the birthplace of Tibetan
civilization, on a day trip. A visit of Samye, the very first monastery of Tibet,
concludes our journey. Trial to Makalu
Everest In Dhulikhel, known for its fantastic view on the Himalayan
peaks, we tune in for the coming days. Then we leave for the land of the wide
and lonely plateaus and the deep valleys between the Himalayas and the Trans Himalaya.
After a spectacular flight you will land in the Yarlung valley and drive to Lhasa,
the spiritual center Tibet, visited by pilgrims from far and wide. We have two
full days to experience Lhasa. Past the Yamdrok Lake and across the passes of
the Karo La (5010m) and the Simi La we drive to Gyantse and Shigatse. Here we
will visit the famous monasteries of Palkhor Chode and Tashilunpo. The drives
cross the passes offer magnificent panoramic views. We drive across the 5200m
Pang La to the starting point of our trek east of Makalu and Everest. We wander
through the green forests and pastures of the Karta valley past clear mountain
lakes and ascend to the passes of Shao La (4970m) and Langma La, which at 5270m
is the highest pass on our trek. With clear weather we can see the north side
of Makalu and Chomolonzo and the east and north side of Everest. Equally impressive
is the flora on the wide meadows. After the trek we drive in jeeps to Rongbuk,
the monastery at the foot of Everest. The north face of Everest is breath taking.
We have plenty of time to discover the Base Camp of Everest and the vicinity.
Later we return via Tingri and Zhangmu to Katmandu. Nepal
Tibet Highlight The first days in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal will
leave you with a lot of impressions: Magnificent royal palaces, Hindu temples,
shrines adorned with rich wood carvings, Buddhist stupas with their white cupolas
and the all-seeing eyes of Buddha as well as colorful markets and busy bazaars.
After this cultural potpourri, you will fly to Tibet. The first days of sightseeing
will acquaint you with the people and their culture and allow time for your acclimatization.
Near Tsetang (3400m) you will visit a castle from the first kings of Tibet and
have a good view across the fertile Yarlung valley. On the way to Lhasa we will
visit the oldest monastery of Tibet, Samye.We have two days sightseeing in Lhasa
(3600m), the spiritual and secular center of Tibet. You will see the Potala palace,
perched high above the city, the holiest temple Tibet's, the Jokhang, and the
Gelugpa monastery of Drepung. Across the vast Tibetan plateau we drive back to
Nepal and get a good glimpse of the Himalayas and the Trans Himalaya. The drive
leads across passes of more than 5000m with dazzling views of the snow-covered
peaks and fluttering prayer flags, we pass the turquoise-colored Lake Yamdrok
and Tibetan houses with their flat roofs. In Shigatse and Gyantse e visit such
important monasteries as Tashilunpo and the Kumbum, rich in sculptures and murals.
The last leg of the trip along the Arniko Highway brings us to Dhulikhel, known
for it good views on the central Himalayas. A hike in its vicinity concludes our
mountain adventure. With lots of impressions gathered on this relatively short
trip (Nepal and Tibet in just 18 days!) we fly home. Khangsung
Valley Sightseeing in Lhasa include the Potala Palace, Jokang, Sera
and Drepung Monasteries. visiting Ganden Monastery will take a full day. In Gyantse
and Shigatse, we will visit the Kumbum Monastery, the former seat of the Pan Chen
Lamas. On the 8th day, we begin our trekking to the East Everest Base Camp, the
Kangshung valley. This region is one of the most remote trekking destinations
in central Tibet. The round trip walk of 8 days to the MakaluBase Camp begins
at Yuba. The kang shung valley absolutely roars with the summer monsoon. The snow
that accumulates daily on the peaks starts rumbling about noon and continues to
fall nisily throughout most nights. this region is one of the most remote trekking
destination in central Tibet. Then we retrace to Yuba via the Langma La Pass and
the kharta river, from Yuba we drive to Zhangmu, the Tibet border to Nepal. The
next morning, we drive back to kathmandu. Holy
Kailash Trek This is the shortest and the most direct approach to Mt.
Kailash and Mansarovar, best suited for those on pilgrimage or for those whose
time is limited. We drive via Khasa (Zhangmu) through the southern route to Mt.
Kailash and Lake Mansarovar and return via the same route back to Kathmandu Namche-Barwa
Trek Botanists have long considered the Namche Barwa area as one of
the most spectacular in the world. Britain's renowned flower hunters excplored
here in the early 20 th century.Tsethang , at the junction of the Yarlung and
Tsangpo rivers, dominates the valleys. It is the usual starting point for pilgrimages
to the many holy sites in the area. The Yumba Lagang is the first castle erected
in Tibet. In the remote eastern corner of the Lhasa-Tsethang region is Lhamo Lhatso,
the "life-spirit" and "oracle" lake sacred to Gyelmo Makzorma,
the wrathful protectress, Pelden Lhamo. Each Dalai Lama was to visit this lake
at least once in his lifetime. Kailash
Highway Exploration of the Tibetan capitaL.You visit the Potala (open
on wed, fri and sun), the monumental palace of Kings and Dalai Lamas, with its
numerous chapels. The view of the holy city from the roofs is unforgettable. Excursion
to the Sera and Drepung monasteries which were amidst the largest monastic institutions
in the world. The chorten tombs of three Dalai Lamas are sited at Drepung.Sera
