cities like Patan, Bhaktapur, old palaces and temples as well as beautiful mountains
with terrace gardens and different ethnic groups. So it is really a complete visit
to know about our ethnic groups, people and culture, mountains and villages of
Nepal.
Itinerary
Day 01 Arrival transfer to the hotel. Rest of the time free.
7 O'clock in the evening, meet and Kathmandu by night by Rickshaw
ride. Dinner at hotel.
Day 02 After breakfast visit of Kapan Monastery and walk up
to Boudhanath visit and lunch at Boudhanath. Afternoon visit
of Swoyambhunath and Kathmandu. Dinner at a local restaurant
with cultural Dance. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 Early in the morning fly to domestic airport for Everest
Mountain flight and return to hotel have breakfast. After
breakfast visit of Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur. Continue up
to Nagarkot. Lunch at Nagarkot and afternoon walk around Nagarkot.
Dinner and overnight at Nagarkot.
Day 04 After breakfast departure for Changunarayan visit (walk
around 1 & ½ hours for them who prefer walking
from Telkot to Changunarayan). Continue up to Dhulikhel for
Lunch. After lunch visit of Panauti and back to the hotel.
Dinner at hotel.
Day 05 After breakfast visit of Khokana and Bungamati. Lunch
at Patan visit Patan and dinner in a local house.
Day 06 Short visit of Kirtipur and departure transfer to the

Kathmandu Durbar Square :
Known
as Kantipur Nagri, the capital of the Kingdom of Nepal. Here
you will visit the temple of the Living Goddess who acknowledges
the greetings of the devotees from the balcony of her temple
residence. Kashtamandap the source of the name Kathmandu and
supposed to be made from the timber of a single tree and the
Durbar Square are with its array of temples overlooked by
the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the ancient place of the Nepalese
Royalty.
SWAYAMBHUNATH
Located approximately 4 kms. /2.5 miles, this Buddhist Stupa
is said to be 2000 years old. The Stupa which forms the main
structure is composed of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth
supporting a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle of Copper
gilt. Painted on the four sided base of the spire are the
all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. This hill is a mosaic of small
Chaityas and Pagoda temples.

The monastery is full of artistic facades of latticed windows
and engraved columns. Until recent times, the word 'Nepal'
referred only to the Kathmandu valley, for here is the cradle
of a two thousand- year-old culture. A well as the museum-like
cities, there are a myriad smaller villages in the valley,
each with its own history and legends, temples and stupas.
Just a moment's drive from Kathmandu are wonderful countryside
walks, wooded parks and gardens for a day's entertainment.
Scattered around the rim of the valley are scenic spots that
command dramatic views of the Himalayan peaks.
Swayambhu
Swayambhunath is one of the most ancient Stupas in the Kathmandu vally.It lies
on the top of the hill in west of the valley. The unique architecture of Swayambhunath
is one of the most easily recognizable symbols of Nepal. From here one can enjoy
a spectacular view of Kathmandu City. Legend says that ancient times the valley
was a lake and it was known as the serpent's lake. Saint Manjushree cut the southern
part of the valley and drained the water out. The Swayambhu was the first exit
and became most important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Pashupatinath
Pashupati is the holiest Hindu shrines in the world . The temple
is of two storied & has the sacred Lingam or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva.
This temple dates 4th century & renovated to present shape at around 18th
century only, is an exquisite examples of repousse art &most noted for its
gold plated roofs & silver coated doors Guheshwori
About a quarter kilometer beyond Pashupatinath temple, on the left bank of the
river Bagmati, the temple of goddess sati, Lord Shiva's consort, stands in the
middle of paved courtyard surrounded by rows of rest houses. The wholestructure
of the temple is designed after the trantric yantra or geometric triangle, signifying
the female principle of procreation. Balaju
Water Garden Situated five kilometers north-west of Kathmandu, Balaju
Water Garden is an ideal place for rest and relaxation. The park features a long
line of twenty-two stone water spouts from the mid-eighteenth century, each of
which is ornately carved with crocodile heads. The garden also includes many other
ponds, some of them containing large and small varieties of fish. Adjoining the
garden is an Olympic-size swimming pool open to the public. Balaju Industrial
Estate is located nearby. Bouddha
Bouddha
is one of the largest Buddhist stupa in the world. The unique highlight of this
great Buddhist monuments is- it is set in the octagonal Mandala design, with the
niche around are the hundreds of prayer wheels & the 108 images of Buddha
adorning the stupa. This also has about 4dozs of monasteries in its vicinity. Chabahil
On the road to Boudhanath is the lovely stupa of Chabahil that is probably older
than Boudhanath. According to the tradition, it was built in the third century
B. C. by Charumati, the daughter of the India Emperor Ashoka, after she married
and settled in the valley. There is also some ancient statuary around the stupa. Gokarna
This lovely Royal Game sanctuary, with the Gorkarna safari park,
Lies about ten kilometers north-east of Kathmandu. It is situated on the bank
of the river Bagmati. Wild animals such as the spotted deer are found in the sanctuary
and can be viewed form elephant back. One can enter the game sanctuary on paying
an entrance fee at the gate. On the northern side of Gokarna, on the way to sundarijal,
is a pagoda - style temple of Gokarneshwar Mahadeva. To its right, situated on
a hillock, there is a small village known as Gokarnagaon Sundarijal
Situated ten kilometers north - east of Kathmandu. Sundarijal is famous for its
scenic beauty. there are magnificent waterfalls, cataracts and rock formations,
making it an ideal place for a picnic. One has to walk a short distance after
the motor able road ends. Kritipur
Kritipur is a small town located eight kilometers south - west of
Kathamndu on the top of a ridge. Tribhuvan University sists at the foot of the
hill. This historic town has many things to offer including ancient shrines, temple,
old-style houses, and villagers dressed costumes and weaving on hand looms. Sankhu
Sankhu, located twelve kilometers east to Kathmandu, is a good example of a small
Newar town, with many fine old buildings and temples. Beyond the village, up a
long flight of stone steps, is Vaja Yogini, a historic temple with beautiful views
of the valley. Chobhar
Chobhar is famous for its gorge, said to have been cut by the god Manjushree to
drain the water from the Kathmandu valley which was at that time a lake. On a
hilltop, there is a small pagoda dedicated to Adinath. From this point one has
a superb view of snow-clad mountain peaks. Chobhar is located eight Kilometers
south - west of Kathmandu. Pharping
and Dakshinkali Pharping has a shrine of Shesh Narayan which is richly
endowed with art. The picturesque shrine stands beneath a rock cliff beside many
fish ponds. The famous temple of Dakshikali is situated about two kilometers from
Pharping. Every Tuesday and Saturday, pilgrims congregate at the temple to sacrifice
animals and worship the goddess Kali. Budhanilkantha
Budhanilkantha, is a sacred place for all Hindus as there is shrine of huge (
16 ft long) reclining stone image of Lord Vishnu on the cosmic serpent, floating
in the middle of the pond, carved by single block of stone. Godavari
Godavari, boast of the Royal Botanical garden. Another attraction
is a month long Hindu festival held at every 12th year. It has the huge collection
of flora around & in well preserved green house. Bird watching is another
aspect of nature one can enjoy. Vajravarahi
The ancient temple of Vajravarahi is situated in a small woodland park located
about ten kilometers south of Patan, near the village of Chapagaon. A visit to
Tikabhairav and Lele from here is well worthwhile. Phulchoki
Phulchoki is a 2791- meter hill and a good hiking spot as it offers a spectacular
view of the whole Kathmandu valley. Rhododendrons of different colors are found
here, including pure white and dark red varieties. A jeepable road leads to the
top of the hill, where there is a Buddhist stupa. Suryavinayak
About 2 miles south of Bhaktapur is an important shrine of Ganesh, the elephant-headed
god fortune. The shrine has been positioned in such a way as to catch the first
rays of the morning sun. Excellent views of Bhaktapur with snow peaks in the background
can be seen from here. Being located in a thick forest, it is also a good picnic
spot. Changu Narayan
It is located a top a serene hilltop, is another temple of lord Vishnu, the oldest
pagoda temple existing in thedating back to 4th century built by king Mandeva.
